BEFORE THE COUNCIL

Following a recent article entitled ‘The Common Struggle of the Whole Russian Church’, I have been asked to compile a calendar of more recent confessors, saints and righteous, of both parts of the Russian Church. In this way, their prayers can be sought during the Fourth All-Diaspora Council in San Francisco, together with the better-known New Martyrs and Confessors, already glorified by the whole Russian Church in 1981 and 2000.

All dates are given according to the Church calendar, therefore thirteen days must be added to find the date on the civil calendar. The dates in brackets after the names of the saints are the dates of their feasts and those after the names of the righteous are the dates of their repose. Saints already canonized are shown in bold. I would be grateful to receive corrections and additions to this list, which will surely be numerous.
